Ks 5.02 UIC unified flat wagon
UIC number | Revision date |
22 87 331 2 100-5 | 20.09.71 |
68 g empty (NEM: 64 to 83 g)
98 g the load of three caravans.
According to Ferrovissime Special Issue No. 5, issued in 2016, the wagon No. 01 (not 22) 87 331 2 100 is in the sub-series 01 87 331 2 000 to 3 999, built between 1963 and 1964. Attention: in the Ferrovissime in question, the second half of the table page 149 duplicates the first half, and is therefore useless!
See Loco-Revue forum.
Wagons put into service from 1954 to 1968. UIC registration 01 (Europ) or 21 (RIV) 87 330 0 000 to 332 4 999. Some are equipped with a screw brake on gangway, others with a brake wheel accessible from the ground.
Main characteristics (with / without gangway): tare 12.8 t / 11.9 t; load C: 21 t / 28 t; usable length 12.5 m; usable width 2.77 m. Folding sides and ends. Manufacturers: Coder, Frangeco, Decauville.
Flat wagons of the UIC type are subdivided into two sub-series of which I don’t know the precise differences of construction:
These many wagons will become surplus in the 1970s, which will lead to many transformations: container transport, various service wagons.
Besides, there is a rather surprising coincidence: the perfect adaptation of the usable dimensions of this wagon to those of 40-foot ISO containers (12.2 × 2.4 m compared to 12.5 × 2.77 m), which will only appear 10 years later!

Lateral stakes can be put into horizontal position. Wheels ⌀ 11, insufficient.
The regime 22 would mean “interchangeable axle wagon”; we think of Spain, but then it would be 24. I wonder… (the normal regime would be 21: wagon RIV non EUROP.)
