Comments

Bogies Y24. The door panes are not flush. Handrails not inserted. The gangways are folding, and the buffers, whose heads are too small, are on spring.

On ref. 4070, a gangway is missing. A step had fallen and is crooked. The gangways are mounted inside out: they show the non-skid surface on the outside.

See gamos81.altervista.org for the reference list of issued DEV AO coach models.

Modifications

  • (Bright) wheels and interior fittings painted; passengers and blinds.
  • Drawbars shortened, Profi couplings.
  • 3-point suspension.
  • Lighting with pickup by wire wrapped on axles, controlled by a latching reed switch.
  • Ballast removed.

History

There is no “long” DEV AO B10 coach assigned to Region 2 in 1970; there are some to region 1:

Type UIC number
B10 U58 51 87 20-40 401-2 to 419-4
B10 U58 51 87 20-57 888-0 to 957-8

These coach numbers correspond to the renumbering around 1971 of a U59 portion of the Sud-Est 20 40 451 to 496 become 20 80 … This corresponds to an increase in the speed limit, 140 to 150 or 160 km/h, probably by fitting the coaches with high power braking Y24 bogies.
