Non-functional lights, probably difficult — but not impossible — to make functional.

Round buffers. Yet almost all the SNCF Y 7400 are equipped with rectangular buffers. There are some exceptions: for example, the 7680 photographed in November 1984, in Ferrovissimo No. 8 of April 2006, p. 2, or the 7568 in February 1981, same document, p. 4.

Modifications

• (Round) buffers exchanged with those (rectangular) of the Y 6438.

History

The Y 7001 (prototype) then the 7401 to 7888 were built from 1963 to 1972 (489 units). Power 129 kW, speed limit 60 km/h, weight 32 t in service. They are equipped with an Asynchro mechanical transmission instead of the Voith hydraulic transmission of the Y 7100 series.

The Y 7469, built by Decauville, is put into service on 2 April 1964 in Villeneuve. It is still based there in 2008 (EuroCity 64).
