Comments

Contradiction between registration (before 1980) and revision date. Very bare in comparison with the Electrotren model. No inserted parts, not even the shutters, but the buffer handles are present! The body is held by four lugs located above and at the rear of the guard plates. I placed pieces of extruded polystyrene into the body to reduce its resonance.

See the Loco-Revue Forum on the G4 (many photos).

History

UIC Standard II-type built between 1959 and 1968 in 19,216 units. UIC Number 01 or 21 87 121 4 000 to 123 3 999. Former registration K or Kv or Kf 276 000 to 295 999.

The most apparent differences between types G4.01 and G4.02 are:

  • the position of the brake wheels (when they exist), at the end for the G4.01, to the middle for the G4.02;
  • the end stiffeners, of constant section for G4.01, of section decreasing from bottom to top for G4.02;
  • the end steps, arranged diagonally for the G4.01, on the same side for the G4.02.

Whether the body is in wood planks or in “Permaplex” (plywood) is not a relevant criterion.
