Comments

Models released around 2005. Small stock found at Railway, proposed at an honest price, and apparently sold like hotcakes. Mr. Angelini did not try to speculate, which is rare enough nowadays to be noticed.

Sliding central axle for easy running in curves, which drives the steps with it. But the extreme axles are not radiant as on the old Fleischmanns. 1.1 mm flanges, a little too much. The central (plastic) mounting hands are mounted, but not the side ones, and there are no holes nor drilling templates.

The benches are grey. If I remember well, they were made of light-coloured varnished wood (ex-3rd class coaches). Other sources give a green texoid coating. It probably depends on the time.

As often, the cables are fragile and of forced diameter. To be replaced.

See the Loco Revue forum.

Modifications

  • Steps and wheels painted. Ivory interior walls, brown floor, wood or green colour benches depending on model. Cables remade with wrapping wire.
  • Lighting powered by conductive bearings and half-axles, and controlled by bistable reed switch.

History

Quotation of the Loco-Revue sheet No. 65 d 8.

These 3-axle, upgraded, 2nd class coaches come from the conversion of 3-axle suburban or local PLM Southeast coaches ex-A6t 2026-2141, A3B3t 4001-4064, B7t 8017-8215, C8t 13118-15540 and C8tf 16812-16999. These coaches are part of the so-called omnibus trains.

UIC marking: 50 87 23-17 001-7 à 361-5.

Marking examples noted by me in Lille station around 1974:
50 87 23 17 075-1 B9tz 2 19.5 t 74 pl
50 87 23 17 076-9 B9tz 2 20.0 t
50 87 23 17 356-5 B9t 2 21.0 t

The original construction of these coaches dates from 1910 to 1929, by Buire, Franco-Belge, Cail, Baume & Marpent, CGCM, Coder and De Dietrich. The modernization, or rather the reconstruction, since only the chassis was preserved, was carried out from 1952 to 1959 by Atelier de Construction du Centre Coder. Speed limit: 120 km/h. Regions of assignment: Nord, Est and Sud-Est.

They were withdrawn in the late 1970s.
