Electrification of the bogies
Current pickup strips are supplied, but:
- they are very short, so stiff, and the part to be soldered is tiny;
- to fit them, the brake equipment had to be removed. When reinstalling, the brake equipment had to be put in place again, followed by the axles, which was very difficult, especially as bearings were escaping;
- stops in the pickup strip housings hinder their insertion, shortening their useful length and making them even stiffer.
Note: the image has been processed to increase the visibility of the pickup strips.
For these reasons, I preferred to use wire wound on the axles, even though this gives half as many contact points. The flexible wire runs under the bogie, then up through the pivot central hole.
Installing the lighting strip
The lighting strip is simply taped to the double roof.
Once the body is back on the chassis, connecting the bogie wires poses no problem.
