Mercedes-Benz LP 608
Mirrors too big and preventing normal storage in the original box.
The chassis, badly (but strongly) glued, is warped, which makes the cabin a little bent towards the back.
Position of the rear axle rectified. Balancing of the rear axle by interposing plastic tube spacers.
The Mercedes-Benz LP 608 was produced from 1965 to 1984.
There is a notice, in German, under the box, describing this lorry. Here is an improved Google translation.
After the round shapes of the postwar era, a new avant-garde style appeared in the early 1960s. In 1963, Mercedes-Benz introduced this cubic construction line, first for heavy-duty lorries. In the light lorry category, an entirely new model made its debut in 1965 at the newly built Wörth / Pfalz lorry plant. The cab is designed in the new style of lorries and was built for nearly 20 years, until 1984.
Our model corresponds to the first production, initially under the designation LP (Pullman Lorry) 608 — a vehicle with a total weight of 6 tonnes and a power of 80 hp. The engine is an OM 314 direct injection four-cylinder diesel, later also used in light lorries “Düsseldorfer”.
