Exact Train EX23778
Glm 1.51 covered wagon, type DR Bremen 1942/43.
UIC Number | Revision date |
21 87 103 0 007-8 | 26.3.66 |
65 g (NEM: 46 to 60 g).
Some parts (end wall reinforcement uprights) are incorrectly fitted, and glued, so impossible to reposition.
Given the low overhang of the chassis, it’s tricky to remove the loop couplings, which are fitted by default, which is regrettable. Be particularly careful with the brake linkages!
In conclusion, the assembly quality is a bit disappointing.
This wagon called “Bremen” was manufactured in Germany from 1943 (so-called war manufacture) in 7200 units. Wagons of this type were ceded to other railway administrations as war damage.
According to Ferrovissime Special Issue no 7 Les trains de marchandises, 75 of these ex-DR wagons were got back by SNCF and were assigned a UIC number in the range 21 87 103 0 000 to 2 039 Glm 1.51.
Main characteristics — usable length: 8.9 m; usable area: 23.7 m2; tare: 9.7 t. These wagons are easily recognized by their axles close to the body ends.

This wagon is at the very beginning of its UIC registration: it still has the old SNCF numbering code K7 in the Inscriptions area.
It has opening doors. The attachments, steps, handrails, coupling handles and door handles are made of metal. Be careful, some of them are badly fixed. The buffers are spring-mounted. They can escape quite easily. There are a few spares in a bag, including one-piece screw couplers, brake hoses and one door step, as only one is fitted originally, I don’t know why.
The wheel gauge doesn’t comply with the NEM (neither the old nor the new). The wheels are connected by a ⌀ 3.2 insulating sleeve, ugly and totally useless on a wagon, but which makes it easy to correct the wheel back-to-back distance.
