Comments

Moulded, not inserted, end handles. The door handles are inserted, but made of too coarse plastic. No interior fittings.

Ref. 45107:

Current pickup strips provided, but no lighting (for a high enough price…).

Attention: Era V. For era IV, the references are 45100 and 45101 (green / metallic grey and Celtic green respectively).

Ref. 74359

Photoetched registration plates are provided, as well as nice route plates and coach numbers, which have nothing to do with a van… It will be anyway possible to use them on other coaches… See the picture.Route plates

No current pickup strips. Apart from that, nothing has changed. Er yes, the UIC rubber joints are hollow now…

The Y24 bogies with reinforced side girders are non-correct for a DEV 62/63 type.

The marking plate gives a speed limit of 160 km/h, which is undoubtedly false, these luggage vans being limited to 150 km/h. Comparing with photos, the marking plates are too wide.

History

Vans built in 180 units from 1964 to 1973. Tare: 30 t; payload: 10 t; speed limit (1st series): 150 km/h.

See the excerpt from the article in La Vie du Rail No. 1093 quoted below.

Lorraine-Lunéville had obtained two orders (DEV 62 and DEV 63, Editor’s note) of 40 vans each. These vans are equipped with Y24B bogies and are suitable for boarding Danish ferries. They have a large luggage compartment that can be converted into four customs compartments of almost 6 m2 each, supplemented by two other, smaller, possibly customs-compliant compartments. These are the first bogie vans built since the interwar period.

The ref. 45107 UIC number doesn’t match any series listed by eurocity64; that of ref. 74359 belongs to DEV 62 series:

  • DEV 62: 51 87 95-70 (or 80) 461 to 500
  • DEV 63: 51 87 95-70 (or 80) 501 to 540
  • DEV 70: 51 87 95-70 541 to 590
  • DEV 72: 51 87 95-70 591 to 640
